Esmeralda Katjikuru

Born and raised in Maltahöhe, Esmeralda Katjikuru - popularly known as Esme - is a female Namibian artist who wears many hats: she is a singer, composer, conductor and songwriter who is involved in a number of genres, such as jazz, gospel, blues and soul. Her interest in music began at a very young age. Her 12-track debut album ‘Perfect Plan’ was released in 2009 and she is reportedly working on a follow-up album.

Esmeralda has performed at various events in Windhoek. These include the /Ae//gams Festival, Miss Namibia, Miss Tourism, Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMA), Windhoek Jazz Festival, Sistah Thang and Last Band Standing. Currently she is the MC for the Joyful Sounds Choir Competition. In September 2013, she united with two other Namibian female artists, Adora and Johné Titus, to perform at Warehouse Theatre in Windhoek. In October 2014, she was featured in the New Era newspaper.
