Gareth Walwyn

Gareth Walwyn is a South African musician and composer, as well as being a highly experienced music teacher registered with the South African Council of Educators. He has a BSc in Computer Science, a MMus in Composition and a postgraduate certificate in Education. In 2006 he was awarded the SAMRO Overseas Scholarship.

Since 2011 he has been the director of the Access Music Project, an independent music school teaching disadvantaged kids in Joza location, Grahamstown. Gareth has well over a decade of experience teaching music to learners of a wide range of ages and backgrounds. He teaches brass, percussion, bass, voice, ensembles, African music, classical, jazz, pop, electronic music, sound technology, music theory and music literacy. Aside from this he is also a musical instrument designer and builder, and a computer and music equipment technician.
