Gyavira Kamara

Gyavira Kamara is a musician and music educator. He started learning music at a carpentry workshop where he was learning how to make and repair music instruments. Until that time he had not shown any interest in becoming a musician at all. But after two years of learning to play the guitar, he was convinced that he wanted to pursue music further.

After finishing high school, he joined the University of Dar es Salaam for a bachelors degree in Fine and Performing Arts, majoring in music. During his time at university he got involved in teaching music privately to individual students and groups.

After completing his degree in 2014, he was employed as a tutorial assistant in music at the same university. Apart from teaching, he has been performing as a solo musician and with different groups as a singer, keyboardist, rhythm guitarist, bass player and clarinetist.
