The Horn of Africa Research and Knowledge Exchange Platform (HAREP) serves as a platform for research and knowledge sharing which could help to bring about more knowledge about societies situated at the Horn of Africa. The platform features music form artists such as Miriam Makeba, Mbaraka Mwinshehe, the Soweto Blues, Ngai Mari Nzoto, and many other artists from the African region.

HAREP was established with the thrust of linking different disciplines such as science, engineering and other web resources relating to the Horn of Africa by archiving, and providing access to research resources. HAREP also aims to support research institutes, scholars, and other professionals in this region and around the world who are engaged in research in various disciplines of science and technology, development, social science, archaeology and cultural heritage. The organization’s website provides a list of local institutions or fields of study, resources (library materials, journals, research studies) and global research efforts relating to the Horn of Africa.

The resources of the HAREP website are mainly electronic research papers, theses, articles, databases and lists important publications which are focused on research and education. It also includes websites of institutions, universities and international organizations from the region and globally.
