Mr MayD

Bio

Mr MayD (Mayokun Awodumila) was born in Lagos to parents from Ekiti State. He imitated Michael Jackson as a secondary student at King's College Lagos where he was one-half of a performing duo. And at the University of Lagos he recorded and shared his music.

A lucky break brought him to the attention of P-Square, who signed him unto their Square Records as the first act. Subsequently he released the songs Soundtrack and Ile Ijo, both of which garnered him a massive following. He was featured prominently on P-Square's 'The Invasion' (2011), his verse on 'Chop my Money' a highlight.

In 2012 Mr May D and Square Records parted, the singer unaware of the situation until a statement from the label was made public. He achieved modest success with his debut album 'Chapter 1' (2013) which was released under his own label Confam Entertainment. It spawned the singles 'Jekajo' and 'Get Down', the latter featuring South African DJ Oskido. South African Mafikizolo then featured the singer on 'Happy' (2013).
