Sakhile Mfuphi

Sakhile Mfuphi is among the best South African guitarists based in Midrand, Johannesburg. His music career began in 2005 in Johannesburg. His talent was spotted by the late Mtshengiseni Gcwensa who asked him to assist his famous group Amageza Amahle as their rehearsal guitarist. He used this opportunity to learn and was also regarded as a member of the group as he would add inputs is song compositions.

In 2008 he established a group called Intombi Yaseqhudeni as a songwriter, producer, guitarist and base vocalist. The group did very well in the market and became famous. He later disbanded the group to pursue a solo career.

In 2011, he signed to Gallo Records and released his debut album titled 'Ngikhanyisele'. The project received nominations at the Summer Awards and Amantshontsho kaMaskandi. He later cancelled the contract owing to financial challenges and joined DMP Records. He released two albums with DMP Records namely 'Inkunzi' (2013) followed by 'Bayangigawula' (2015). Both projects did very well.

Sakhile is among the artists who are very instrumental in nurturing and growing the maskandi music genre. He has worked with other maskandi artists and groups as a guitarist such as Abangani Bakhe, Amagcokama, Abafana bakaMgqumeni, Osaziwayokazi, Ogezoo and many many more.
