Scratch Lab

The Scratch Lab is the brainchild of Africa’s pioneering DJ collective, The Beat Bangaz (Ready D, E-20 & DJ Azuhl), who with a collective experience that spans more than 30 years now runs this unique DJ school. With a track record consolidated in international tours, SA and African tours, radio, television, clubs, music production, mixtapes, live bands, seminars, expo's and workshops, the students will benefit from this collective’s insight and experience. With its mission to provide education and accessibility in the art of the DJ and producer while maintaining a high standard of service, the Scratch Lab offers an insightful, inspirational and informed experience.

Combining traditional DJ methods and tools with the latest technology, the training received sets the Scratch Lab apart from other DJ schools. From novice, bedroom DJ to the seasoned performer, Scratch Lab offers a range of courses and workshops to accommodate any skill level. Its cost-effective DJ and music production courses conducted by accredited, professional and experienced trainers keeps students on par with the latest technology, developments and techniques.

From beginner courses to advanced, the emphasis is on building personal relationships and a holistic approach to training. Scratch Lab also boasts a free monthly workshop series, Lab Sessions, that introduces interested parties to new software, technology, guest DJs and producers and tools to promote self-expression through music. Not limiting itself, the lab caters for all music forms from hip-hop and electronica to house, experimental and more. Students can also enroll into Lab Practice sessions to expand their skills. Students receive manuals, audio and video material and practical fieldwork in all courses. With its mentorship approach combined with all supporting materials, Scratch Lab ensures its students claim their stake in the art.
