Bio

Born on 3 July 1992, Shawty (real name Celia Embumbulu) is a Namibian musician whose music is a fusion of RnB and hip-hop. Born and raised in Windhoek, her passion for art and music began when she was seven. This prompted her parents to enroll at the College of the Arts in 1999 upon realizing her love for art and Ballet. She attended school at Van Ryn Primary, Dawid Bezuidenhout and Eagle’s Christian Academy schools. She was also a student at the College of the Arts (Ballet). From 2004 to 2007, she was named Best Junior Dancer (Ballet).

In 2008, she joined a group of 12 talented Namibian teenage dancers and musicians to form a group called Smack INC. In 2009, she founded a group called Aces under the production of Infinity Records. They released six singles, namely ‘Kick Push’, ‘It’s Not a Game’, ‘Coming Through’, ‘Going On’, ‘Galaxy’, and ‘Still Standing’. Aces separated and its members went solo. Celia decided to start working on her solo album, called ‘FFF’ (Family, Friends, and Fans). She released two singles from the album, ‘He Should Know’ and ‘Tell Me I am Wrong’ ft. Lo Ski, both of which were accompanied by music videos.
