Sophia Atsbeha

Though Sophia was oppressed, and her songs highly censured by the degrue regime, and the weyane regime did nothing to remedy the scars of the past, the charismatic diva is still a force to be reckoned with. Sophia Atsbeha's over thirty years' outstanding career in the Ethiopian music industry is a history in and of itself.

Standing shoulder to shoulder with another Tigrian artist, Tebereh Tesfuney, who was born and raised in Asmera, Sophia is credited as one of the first few female musicians who contributed in modernizing Tigrigna music and for serving as one of the best role models for the countless young female Tigrigna musicians in today's Ethiopia.
