Southern African Disabled Musicians Association (SADMA)

Bio

SADMA's main business is broad advocacy for disabled musicians throughout the whole of Southern Africa. The founders of the association consist of blind musicians who have vast experience and expertise in the complex music industry. These musicians, although disabled and disadvantaged, took upon themselves to share their humble experience with other musicians who find themselves in the same position as they were.

SADMA also serves as a vehicle for providing education and training in the complex issues of copyright, royalties, publishing and recording contracts. SADMA has established a Music recording studio that is especially designed to serve the peculiar needs of blind and physically disabled musicians. The main purpose of the studio is, therefore, to alleviate the problems encountered by the disabled musicians of our country in recording their music in the commercial music recording studios. Currently SADMA has embarked on a massive national music talent search for the visually impaired and physically disabled musicians. The identified talented musicians will be assisted through the whole process of preparing their music for the market.

SADMA is funded by donations from caring individuals and organisations. Its vision is to develop and maintain all disabled musicians within the Sub-Saharan region to compete favourably in the music industry.
