Specials Schools Arts festival

Bio

The Specials Schools Arts festival is a Zimbabwean event that was founded in 2012 by poet Ticha Muzavazi. The reason behind the festival is to celebrate the artistic achievements of children with disabilities through arts. This is done by showcasing skills and abilities through music, poetry, traditional dance, drawing, crafts and many other arts and culture activities.

The event thrives to accommodate children with disabilities in art and cultural activities held in the country. It also focuses on fighting discrimination of physically challenged by encouraging them to participate in some of the arts and cultural activities held in schools.

The first event was held at St. Giles Special School in Harare. Some of the musicians and bands who regularly feature during the event include Murewa High School Resource Unit for the Blind, Stitches Mbira Band, Jairos Jiri Schools from Harare and Kadoma, Munyaradzi Munodawafa and many others.
