The Youth & Hip hop Uganda

Bio

The Youth & Hiphop Uganda was drawn up by the Centre for Cultural & Development and supported by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala with the overall aim to improve and bridge the socio-cultural and economic gap between youths in Uganda. It does so by supporting youths in acquiring artistic (hip hop) as well as development and leadership skills that can enhance socio-cultural and economic transformation across diversities.

More specifically, the project aims to:
• Continue to organize regular hip hop activities for youngsters in Kampala and Gulu (building upon existing initiatives)
• Start organizing hip hop activities in selected other regions (i.e. Mbarara, Mbale, Jinja and Arua)
• Build leadership skills and self-esteem of the youths
• Showcase hip hop talent at regular events/festivals
• Connect youths within Uganda and with the wider world
• Make collaborations between performing artists from different regions
• Develop innovations amongst young people
• Generate employment opportunities for youngsters
• Enhance career chances of talented young hip hop artists
