Fourth edition of StarAfrica Sounds contest launched
In order to promote new African music talents, StarAfrica.com – Orange’s entertainment portal in Africa – is launching the fourth edition of the StarAfrica Sounds music contest. Applications are open until 26 May.
The 2014 edition saw 88 candidates participate and received more than 50 000 votes. For this fourth edition, Marema - winner of the 2014 StarAfrica jury's prize and of the 2014 RFI Prix Decouvertes - will be the official sponsor.
From 31 March to 26 May, the candidates (singers, groups, artists, musicians, etc) can register on StarAfrica.com, proposing an original song, representative of their personal musical style.
From 26 May to 7 July, the public will be invited to vote for their favorite candidates on StarAfrica.com. The winner of the Public Prize will be given coverage on StarAfrica.com and Deezer Africa and North Africa, an interview on Africa N°1, a Deezer 4 Artists certified account, six months free access to Deezer Premium+ and free distribution of three albums on Zimbalam. The 2nd to 9th position winners of the Public Prize will be given a Deezer 4 Artists certified account, six months free access to Deezer Premium+ and free distribution of three albums on Zimbalam.
A jury composed of music professionals will designate the Jury Prize from all the candidates. The Jury Prize winner will be announced on StarAfrica.com on 10 July. The Jury Prize winner will also be given coverage on StarAfrica.com and Deezer Africa and North Africa, an interview on Africa N°1, a Deezer 4 Artists certified account, six months free access to Deezer Premium+ and free distribution of 3 albums on Zimbalam.
The songs of the 10 winners of the competition will be part of the StarAfrica Sounds 2015 compilation. This year a remix contest, in partnership with Soonvibes, will be organized using the Public Prize and the Jury Prize winners' songs.
