AFRIMA extends deadline for entries
Organisers of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), scheduled to be held later in the year, have extended the call for entries. The shift in timeline, said to be due to "appeals from the music industry of Africa", was decided upon at a recent meeting in Casablanca, Morocco.
Initially set for 20 July, the new deadline for entries to the 2015 awards will now be 31 July.
Submissions to the award opened on 18 May, with considerable interest following last year’s event. AFRIMA has since gone on a continent-wide promotion, with conferences in Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa and Morocco. The awards committee, in partnership with local organisers, hosted the popular Nigerian music industry event ‘Industry Nite’ in Lagos, Nigeria.
According to a statement from the organisers: ‘If you are an artiste, music producer, songwriter, music video director or any other eligible music professional of African origin, you now have till 31 July to enter your valid works for consideration for AFRIMA 2015 nomination. Guidelines for submission, eligibility and the entry form are available on www.afrima.org (English) and www.afrima.org/fr (French).’
The 2015 AFRIMA awards ceremony take place on 15 November. Prior to the show, which will be broadcast across the continent, there will be a 2-day AFRIMA Music Village and an Africa Music Summit. For more information, visit the AFRIMA website here.
