Sounds International Studio

Sounds International offers a very clean signal path from a Behringer B2 - Pro large diaphragm condenser microphone or a 'classic' Bruel & Kjaer 4007 omni-directional microphone (the only one in Uganda) via an Edirol Midi and AudioCapture digital audio interface switchable up to 96KHz sample rate and 48 bit depth. Over 500Gb of hard disk space, anti-virus software and 24 / 7 internet access. We have all formats of DVD and CR-ROM burning.

Neuendo audio digital recording software running on a PC platform is our preferred choice of professional software but we do have Fruity Loops Studio as well. Many VST plug-ins including the massively powerful Halion 16 channel sampler with a sound library of over 40,000 samples. A 32-channel Midi Yamaha PSR - S700 touch sensitive multi-timbre keyboard.

A Squire stratocaster electric guitar, a beautiful blue semi-acoustic guitar, assorted traditional instruments and percussion, assess to a 'live' drum kit all running through a Behringer 1832 mixer with British equalizers for added 'warmth'. A 5.1 surround sound system 'tweaked' for flat response accuracy with appropriate room sound treatment to reduce standing waves, first reflections and with bass 'traps'.

Real musical notation is available when required eg. for a brass section, strings or other 'session' musicians.

Free vocal training and tuition, when time allows, on one of the musical instruments. We also offer free registration / enrollment for the Sounds International Vocational Music Training program which was established in October 2009.

High level composition / production techniques employed: 'Prosody' (metaphorical 'word painting), internal instrumental 'hooks' based on the chorus melody, half chorus instrumental within the first 10 seconds and hitting the fist full chorus at 30 seconds to be 'radio friendly', second verse repetition problem addressed, harmonic development (middle section / breakdowns) including the use of relative minor keys, transparent mix using programmed and 'live' elements, subtle cultural / historical reference eg. 'lifting' grooves or riffs from classic 1960-90s songs etc.
