Call for applications: Sony Music East Africa label manager
Sony Music Entertainment (SME) is calling on potential candidates to apply for the position of label manager in East Africa.
Reporting to the business and artist development manager of SME East Africa, the successful applicant will manage marketing and promotion activity for all artists signed to the label and act as an ambassador for SME East Africa and the label at industry events.
The successful candidate will:
- Under direction of the business and artist development manager, create and manage effective marketing and media strategy for all artist releases under label roster to deliver an overall campaign that reflects the vision and goals of the artists as well as delivering company financial and market share goals.
- Work with artist management to develop clear strategy for artist image, manage artist relationship and marketing, press and promotion activity to achieve goals in relation to music releases.
- Manage overall product approval process including music and artwork, where necessary, for each release liaising as required with internal and external contacts to ensure deadlines are met.
- Manage budget to ensure most effective marketing and promotion spend and provide analysis of campaign effectiveness for future planning activity.
- Work closely with the commercial department on release strategy, sales forecasting and all necessary materials for maximum commercial impact. Researching and developing new methods of building fans and marketing artists and music.
- Use industry and market knowledge to assess and make recommendations to maximise opportunities for brand partnership and other full rights management artist activity.
- Work with all relevant internal and external partners to deliver an agreed broader rights strategy.
- Work with the digital team to create and deliver appropriate strategy for online/mobile presence for each act; coordinating promotional activity, website design, database interaction, online marketing and digital sales.
- To be fully aware of the label turnover and P&L targets and its contribution to the success of the company as a whole.
Requirements:
- A degree or diploma in marketing, communications or public relations.
- At least three years working experience working with a label or distributor will be an added advantage.
- Detailed knowledge of local and international market and consumer behaviours relevant to label target audience.
- Must be able to successfully manage budget marketing/promotion campaigns
- Great network of contacts within the entertainment industry.
- Experience with working with various data analytics platforms.
- Understanding and relationships with digital sales partners (Spotify, Apple, Deezer, etc).
- Experienced in digital campaign strategy, planning, overview and co-ordination of digital marketing campaigns.
- Have an understanding and experience with social media, CRM marketing and how they relate to artist marketing.
- Highly organised and results orientated.
- Have a passion for music.
- Works collaboratively with all departments as well as work well with and manages a diverse range of personalities.
