Jah Prayzah to join Cassper Nyovest for SA gigs
Zimbabwean musician Jah Prayzah will join Cassper Nyovest for two Africa Unity Music Festival shows in South Africa. The shows will be held on 5 and 6 May at the Ice Arena in Durban and Cape Town’s Castle of Good Hope respectively.
Prayzah and Nyovest will be joined by SA DJs Mshayi (Cape Town) and Lesoul (Durban) as well as two Zimbabwean dancehall artists, Ras Caleb and Jah Signal.
Prayzah, who together with Winky D bagged two 2017 National Arts Merit Awards (NAMAs), shared the news on his Facebook page: “Ndangoti mugare makagadzirira masoja!” (Safely translated to “Just to say, be prepared, my fellow soldiers.”)
Prayzah’s manager and publicist, Keen Mushapaidze, expressed excitement at the two shows. “We are very excited about the shows considering that Cassper Nyovest has done exceptionally well not just in South Africa but even on the international stage,” he said.
“It is an honour for Jah Prayzah and Third Generation band to share the stage with an artist of Cassper Nyovest’s calibre as we are going to learn a thing or two from the event. Above all, we are hoping that the concerts will meet our fans’ expectations.”
The ‘Watora Mari’ hitmaker is enhancing his music profile by associating himself with some of Africa’s big names and performing around Africa and the US. Last year, Prayzar featured Tanzanian heavyweight Diamond Platnumz on ‘Watora Mari’ – a song taken from his 2016 Mudhara Vachauya album. Prayzah has also extended his collaborations to Botswana where he featured Tswana musician Charma Gal on the song ‘Dali Wangu’.
In December last year, the musician was in South Africa to work on a single with multi-award winning duo Mafikizolo and popular record producer DJ Maphorisa.
He also had a series of gigs in the US and Canada between July and August in the same year. In 2015, he became the first Zimbabwean musician to embark on a one-week tour of China. The tour was part of his ambassadorial duties for Dream Star (formerly Zim Got Talent), a Chinese-funded talent search programme.
Nyovest is a multi-award winning musician whose music has earned him a place among Africa’s best known rappers. The artist made headlines in 2014 when he released his debut studio album Tsholofelo. Since then, his music has become a darling of many and has inspired a number of upcoming artists.
Tickets for the Durban and Cape Town shows can be purchased via Computicket.
