Dungavee

Bio

Born Ndumiso Khumalo on 27 March 1988 in Nhlangano, Swaziland, Dungavee is one of the top hip-hop artists to emerge out of Swazi. He grew up in Manzini and attended school at Salesian High where he started rapping. While growing up, he listened to music from Nas, Eminem and Jay Z. He was an underground artist for many years but decided to go public. In 2007, he rapped to Bone Crusher's song ‘Never Scared’ instrumental. Crusher is a U.S. rapper based in Atlanta. This convinced him to take music as a profession. That same year he met music producer MouZe who didn't take him seriously when he told him he could rap.

He did not give up. In 2008, he made beats together with a local rapper called Slow X. Since then, he began gaining popularity but his breakthrough was when he was asked by MouZe to feature on a remix titled ‘Nokie's Song’. The song was originally done by a rapper called Austinator. The project earned him fame and he began working with MouZe on a full-time basis. Shortly afterwards, he featured on many tracks and later recorded a solo track titled 'We Are One'. The single was a dedication to other local rappers.

In 2010, he released an E.P. titled ‘The Playmaker’. His E.P. featured guest artists and producers like GEM, Fizzy Bones, Slow X. It was produced by Mouze, Austinator and Fizzy Bones. His single titled ‘S'bhabhadla’ was well received and was at number 2 on the SBIS top20 charts. His debut performance was at St Michaels High School together with Austinator. Since then, he had a series of performances at places like Cafe de Flore, Uniswa Freshers Ball 2009 and at the Annual Spring Bash.
