Bio
Chashe Musarurwa-McTaggart is a UK-based Afropop musician from Zimbabwe.
She rose to fame with her single ‘Zvekupenga’. She was born in 1989 in Harare. She was also raised in in that city. She started off as a writer and pianist and began singing for fun. She took her music seriously when she began studying music. Her music is a reflection of love, life and day to day experiences.
In 2007, she moved to Cape Town, South Africa to pursue her music studies at University of Cape Town (UCT). In 2009, she relocated to the US to finish her programme at Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts. After her studies, she relocated to the UK where she is currently based. Before moving to London, she released her debut album ‘Dhi’.
Her career as a musician was prompted by her upbringing which was characterized by lots of movements. Such made her to experience different cultures thus played a big impact on the music she writes. On 15 May 2015, she collaborated with Tinashe Makura on ‘Zvokupenga’ at Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA). Tinashe is a Malaysian based Zimbabwean musician. She has also performed at venues such as the House of Blues, Hynes Convention Centre and more.
