Bakhita

Bakhita is a non-binary multidisciplinary group based in Nairobi. Through their art, and conceptual design, Bakhita creates and Expresses Afro Surrealist universes that challenge neo-colonial culture and biases that affect marginalised communities by drawing inspiration from traditional and modern African sonic and design aesthetics to reimagine the vibrance of artistry in Kenya.

Their art work is heavily influenced by a love for vibrant colour schemes and bold emotive designs which are meticulously built and express African Maximalism at its best, and their music vividly delves into descriptive pieces aimed at tugging all the senses and scoping perspective through a symphony of jazz, funk and neo-soul. They borrow inspiration from nature, street trends and the vibrance of the Kenyan and international Climate.
