Emily Dangwa

Bio

Emily Dangwa completed her Undergraduate in Opera studies and Postgraduate in Music performance with Distinction from the University of Cape Town. She worked in Cape Town singing in the Baxter Theatre and Arts Cape for productions. In 2017 Emily sang in Handel’s Messiah and Faure's requiem in Bloemfontein. In 2018 she sang at the World Music Day as the only classical artist, and also debuted her own work Confessions of a Woman at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre in Namibia. In that same year she performed at these various corporate and private events in Windhoek; Miss Teen Namibia-Greatest Show, Cancer Association Fundraising in Windhoek and Swakopmund, Team Namibia’s General Meeting, Nedbank’s Private Wealth Gala Dinner. She was also part of the Composition, Recording and Performance of VARTA Namibia’s anti-poaching song for their anti-poaching campaign. In October of that year Emily was invited to sing in East Africa’s annual classical concert performing “Mozart’s Great Mass in c minor”, in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. In 2019 In February and March Emily was a judge on Voice of Namibia. She performed for Corporate Events in Swakopmund organized by Corporate Event Gear at Mad Max. In Windhoek she performed for Old Mutual’s farewell function; the Namibian National Symphony Orchestra’s (NNSO) Valentines Concert and Baroque Festival, she also performed and organized through her company ED Music Production “Celebration of Stories” an all Namibian Classical Concert with repertoire composed by Namibians. She also sang at the Clive and the Now Generation –Classical Gospel Concert that was held at Sterkinekor. In June she performed at the Miss Namibia 2019 Preliminary Round where the top twelve contestants were selected, and she sang at the Miss Windhoek Gymnasium 2019 Pageant, she was a judge at Windhoek Gymnasium's Gimmies Got Talent 2019 and sang for Miss Teen Namibias Pink Bash Fundraiser and the Miss Teen Namibia 2019 pageant. In 2020 Emily in Swakopmund for Corporate Event Gear at their annual dinner in the desert function in January. Emily is also a vocal coach and music educator, she has a music Academy ED Music Academy that offers Vocal coaching, music theory and Piano. The academy has partnered with Song Night a platform that helps young singers perform on a professional stage.
