Bio

Born Nomangesi Abigail.

nomaG (her stage name) is a Alexandra-
born, Vosloorus Township-based multi-
genre songstress and multi-lingual
songwriter, a Vocal coach, Theatre performer, Creative director, V/O artist and Presenter, has recently released a
Hot Single titled 'IMPILO' which is
available on all digital stores world wide.

Her eclectic music infuses different styles and genres from around the continent, from Afro pop, to R&B soul, to gospel and jazz — while bearing strong elements of West African HighLife.

She’s blessed to commad a band of like-minded and seasoned expert musicians, who like her, have shared the stage alongside revered South African and international musos. In brief, they are…

Siphiwe “The Magician” Nhlapho (Moloi): Vosloorus-born and bred, is a bass guitarist slash producer, who’s teamed up with Tribute “Birdie” Mboweni and Sebabatso, just to name a few.

Mpho Hlakudi: a Klatlehong-born and self-taught lead guitarist slash studio sessionist, who boats a drumming background and also lends his talents to Gospel From A Different View.

Lehlohonolo Makuwa: a versatile drummer whose music theory cred has seen him join forces with Tebo Boshigo, Sugar Smax, and Robert Zimba the Zimbabwean guitarist (in addition to playing at the Aldos Arts Festival).

Thato Khena: a self-taught pianist born in Katlehong. Much as his skill is church-based and honed, he is inspired by the country’s greats. He aspires to own his own studio facilities.

Kgosi Leking: a UJ trained alto vocalist whose CV includes stints with Simphiwe Khumalo, Motlatsi Mafatshe and Tebogo Moloto.

nomaG first got bitten by the music bug as a result of hearing the choral sounds of Barorisi Bamorena, whose double-edged deployment of the voice — as both instrument and sung vocal — made an impression on her. But the first time she would go from performing in front of the bathroom mirror and family members to an actual audience, was when she joined the church choir, where she dazzled her more older and experienced peers with her vocal range and depth.

A former backing vocalist herself who has shared the stage with seasoned greats like
Thandiswa Mazwai, Selaelo Selota, Siphokazi and the O’ Jayz, she counts among her
longstanding influences the late and incomperable Busi Mhlongo, Miriam Makeba, Brenda Fassie and Whitney Houston, as well as Mzansi’s first lady of song the late Sbongile Kumalo and the eclectic Erykah Badu.

Due to popular demand and pressure from her fans, she will be headlining at East Rand
venues this winter, including the Yfm stage and give audiences a sip from Some O’ her tea
to warm the winter chill. This will be accomplished alongside finessing her imminent album
for release later this year.

Fans on her nomaG social media pages (Facebook, Instagram and YouTube) can expect to
be teased to a recently publicized and flavoured track-list, that includes self-written titles
like: Love Brokendown, Come Around, Impilo, Highlife and Pusa Nakuna (Congolease and
