88 Gowd is an artist from South Africa ‘’real name’’ BRIAN BOIPUSO MATE born December 31 in the year 1995, is a young Zimbabwean artist/ creative, currently based and grew up in South Africa. He grew up in a township called Lobengula in the city of Bulawayo and then later on moved to Johannesburg to pursue his studies. He grew up a very quiet kid who used to do a lot of activities that included dancing, modeling and soccer. He was elected as the first soccer captain in EATC HIGH SCHOOL and he was a business studies class project manager.
He developed interest in music at the age of 9 when he wrote his first lyrics but only managed to pursue it as a carrier at the age of 22 after he graduated for a NATED DIPLOMA in BUSINESS MANAGEMENT. He has worked with a few artists and producers from around Johannesburg and has also managed to shoot a music video for his latest first solo single titled “INSUKU ZOK’GCINA meaning “the last days”. The song has been taking the streets by storm via the promo clips though it’s not released yet. The artist is a life oriented artist meaning he mostly sing about real life situations, love and God. He usually writes his songs in a mix of ISIZULU and ENGLISH. He has been pushing as an Independent artist with the highlife movement family.
He is currently working on a soulful RnB, 15 track album that is about to finish produced by Redtail Beats who is one of our own highlife movement team members. The artist is also into fashion, designing, business ans d giving back to the community.
