Bio
Afrie is an award winning Ugandan singer, songwriter & film maker. Her
soothing and bold compelling voice resonates with that of the African
girl.
Afrie is an ambassador of the African Union -AU/CIEFFA - campaign to
educate girls post Covid-19. Her song 'Let Her Know' is the theme song of this
campaign.
This song has earned Afrie four nominations in the
prestigious All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2019 and 2021. Her song Yodi
Yodi won the award for Best Afro-fusion song in The Uganda Music Awards
(TUMA).
She is the founder of the Kalaverse through which she mentors and supports
young female creatives. An exceptional film maker, Afrie has directed 'Little Faith', a documentary film about Karamoja's very first female doctor who defied an early marriage to
pursue her dreams - a message at the very heart of Afrie's music, film and
advocacy work.
