Bio

Ano Shumba is a seasoned content manager and senior digital music reporter at Music In Africa, a leading online music media portal. Since joining the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) in 2015, Shumba has played a pivotal role in driving the growth of the MIAF website, producing high-quality content that showcases the vibrant music scenes of Southern Africa and beyond.

With a vast network of music industry professionals across the continent, Shumba has conducted in-depth interviews with top artists, including Yemi Alade, Falz, Mr Eazi, and many others. He has also built relationships with key music executives at organisations such as SAMRO, CAPASSO, SAMPRA, Sony Music Entertainment Africa, Sony Music Publishing and Universal Music South Africa, among others.

Shumba's expertise has been sought after by major music events, including the Sauti za Busara festival, South African Music Awards, and the Global Citizen Festival, among others. He has also covered prominent music festivals and awards ceremonies across Africa, including the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Mangaung African Cultural Festival, and the Crown Gospel Music Awards.

As a key member of the MIAF team, Shumba produces content for ACCES, an annual pan-African event that celebrates the richness and diversity of African music. He has also forged partnerships with various organizations to expand the MIAF brand, including the South African Music Awards, Zimbabwe Music Awards, and the Standard Bank Jacaranda Festival.

Shumba's contributions to the music industry have been recognized with a nomination for Best Journalist at the 2020 Zim Hip Hop Awards. Prior to joining MIAF, he worked as a reporter and photographer for The Zimbo Jam, a Zimbabwean online entertainment magazine.
