Bio
Born and raised in the bustling city of Nairobi, Aurie (aww-ree) popularly nicknamed 'Aurieo' - is a singer-songwriter, recording, and performing artist. Her entry into the creative and social-cultural sector was through theatre and performance arts, having starred in award winning musicals; curated and produced by locally renowned theatre groups.
Aurie's passion was in singing and songwriting, leading her to also pursue a solo music career in 2015. She emerged on the scene with her debut singles, Fanya Mambo, Take Me Away and Never Ever, earning her media appearances on Kiss 100, Capital FM, and Y254 tv.
In 2021, she released her EP, Aurientation, an afro urban pop of delight. Through the music, she shares the lessons she continues to learn in life about love and friendship. She daringly invents the wheel, infusing soulful vocals and witty lyricism; 'aurienting' her audience and new listeners alike.
Aurie has since starred as the lead actress in the musical dramedy, Cheza (2022), which is available on Showmax. She has also been appointed as one of the 13 members of the Creative Youth Advisory Council (The Assembly).
The release of TLC (No Love Lost) in May 2024, the first single off her debut album, S'tori (set to hit the airwaves in July 2024) propels her further into her musical career. TLC (No Love Lost) is a moving single that calls us to be true to ourselves, even in grief.
Aurie continues to harness her creative expression in performance through song, dance, and storytelling to bring joy and beauty, promote individual well-being, and stir up the Gift of God in man.
