Brumelda Scott

Bio

Born in Keetmanshoop, Brumelda Scott is a female Afro-pop and RnB musician from Namibia. She began her music career at a tender age of five at Immanuel Ruiters Primary School in Walvis Bay. Her late teacher, Zane Hudson, recognized that young Brumelda had a good voice. This prompted Zane and Ena Venter, the conductor of the Mascato Coastal Youth Choir, to contribute towards nurturing Brumelda’s talent. Brumelda started to participate in school choirs, talent shows, concerts and cultural festivals. She later moved to Duinesig Combined School and joined the school choir. As part of the school choir, she travelled to quite a number of countries, including Canada, Spain and Portugal.
In 2004, Scott released her first single ‘Ti #hi #hisen sa tsuba tsi’ (which translates to ‘If I am proud of myself, does anybody have a problem with that?’). It later became the title track of her debut album. Around 2008, she released her second album ‘Ti /hons/hatsa #uma’, which means ‘My name is’. In 2010, her song ‘#ni#nisen sa tsubatsi’, which was nominated at the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards. In 2013, Brumelda released her third studio album, ‘Mamma Victoria’, a 14-track music piece courtesy of Deal Done Records. The album is a fusion of Damara Punch and RnB genres. In 2014, her songs ‘Get Down’, ‘Get Down Saka’ and ‘Share My Love’ were nominated in the following NAMA categories: Best House, Best Damara Punch and Best RnB.
