CEDUMA QAMATA THE AFRICAN ROCKSTAR
Her music was born out of her fusion of umculo wokombela, the sounds of amaqhirha, umqhokolo and western rock.

Ceduma Qamata is a vocalist and songwriter whose music is inspired by her upbringing. She was exposed to the sound of umqokolo and yokombhela, a kind of singing expressed by the Xhosa clan when traditional ceremonies are being carried out.
Her music is honest, direct, unplanned and a mere translation of the energy felt at that moment in time. Ceduma marries her childhood experiences, her engraved culture and beliefs, with rock music. She performs with Abantu BeLali namely Lerato Lichaba on guitar, Simangaliso Dlamini on bass and Xolani Mtshali on drums.
