Charlotte Potgieter

Born in Pretoria, Charlotte Potgieter earned a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1991. In 1989, at the age of 20 she was awarded the SAMRO overseas scholarship. She went on to gain a performance diploma from Utrecht Conservatory in 1994. Since December 1993 she has been a member of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in the Netherlands. She is currently principal second violin.

Charlotte specialises in chamber music and also gives private lessons. She has been a coach at Codarts Academy in Rotterdam and a member of the World Orchestra for Peace. She plays a J.B. Guadagnini violin built in 1745 on an extended loan from the Somerwil family.
