Dane the Ambitious creates music that is never in the genre nor the style one expects. Defined and led by his ambition, he is known for his adept ability to create masterpieces that do not conform to conventions of genre and style. Born in Cape Town, South Africa and bred in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Eswatini, he has been making music since his early childhood, demonstrating talent and leadership in his school choirs, musicals, and traditional music ensembles.
Dane's career as a music producer began in 2016, when he produced the song
‘Colour’ for Swazi Rapper King Terry at the age of 16. ‘Colour’ went on to win Song of the Year in the 2018 MTN SWAMA Awards and secure a top spot on the Taffy Raw Top Charts. The following year, Dane was named one of the winner of the 2019 Alliance Francaise Rap Competition, giving him his debut performance at MTN Bushfire―one of the largest arts festivals in Africa.
Since then, Dane has gone on to win 'Best in Pop, Electronic or Dance Music Program' at the 2021 Canadian CRABO Awards, and was named the Runner Up in the 2021 On the Verge Writing Contest.
Diving into the world of content creation and collaboration, Dane continues to push the boundaries of his work, creating works for names like Def Jam Recordings and 'Polo in Africa'. experimenting with fusion the genres of RnB/Soul with Afropop/Amapiano.
