Emak Music Services is a member of the International Music Council (IMC). Emak Music Services was registered in the Republic of Kenya in 1998 as a business. Its focus is the provision of music and music education though teaching, consultancy, research and publication.
Under the proprietorship of a leading music practitioner and educator in this nation, Emak Music Services endeavours to provide service and leadership in issues of music performance, policy and education. After an initial period of apparent dormancy while the proprietor was engaged in other assignments, the company became active in 2005, producing 3 publications.
These were the first issue of the East African Journal of Music and the Proceeding of the East African Symposium on Music Education, both in partnership with Kenyatta University’s Department of Music and Dance and a book, Issues on music Education in Kenya: a handbook for music teachers by Emily Achieng’ Akuno.
It was assigned an initial 10 ISBN numbers by Kenya National Library Services Reference section, and is in the process of preparing other manuscripts for publication for secondary school and other areas of music.
