Grixxly
Bio
Born Sibusiso Malambe professionally known as Grixxly (pronounced Grizzly) is a Mbabane, Eswatini born Hip-Hop artist and producer, who’s style of music ranges from Conscious Rap to Trap, with his occasional dabbling into trap beats fused with conscious lyricism he is not one to box himself into a particular type of Hip-Hop sound, as in his words “My debut project As The Fruits Ripen was a project of ‘firsts’ and experimentation” from blatancy to vulnerability, over self-produced hard hitting hip hop beats, which is to say a large of portion of his creative mind-set coming into making a song is experimental and unpredictable. Who’s to say what you may get from a Grixxly drop, within the “umbrella genre” that is Hip Hop.
Background
His background in music stems from his two older brothers who introduced and exposed him to a variety of musical sounds from House music, R&B kwaito and multiple facets of hip-hop genre all from the early 2000s to 2008. Artists such as DJ Oskido, Mzekezeke,, Outkast, 50 cent, Eminem, T-Pain and Lil’ Wayne all contributed to his new-found love for music and subsequent early influences. He developed an admiration for how these artists were able to tell their stories and share their perspectives on life in a creative and captivating manner using music as a vehicle to do so. Grixxly eventually started writing his own music, taking verses from artists such as Lil’ Wayne and Eminem and rewriting (editing) them in ways that spoke to his life experiences and with time he became more expressive and emotive as he penned his actual life experiences, which came a form of catharsis for him to emote his navigation through life and growing up.
