Hajjat Madina

Hajjat Madina, full name Hajjat Madina Nambooze Kansiime is the latest arrival on Uganda’s music scene who has received plenty of deserved attention. Her latest single, 'Bibuuza', has gotten her into the charts; with her voice, which laments the experience of a woman left by her lover, she has everyone talking.

Listening to 'Bibuuza' strikes different memory chords; it is a sound that takes you down memory lane to the days of Philly Bongoley Lutaaya or Sarah Birungi and Carol Nakimera. The maturity in her voice served on rumba beats might get you thinking Joanita Kawalya too. Rumba is definitely not new to Ugandans but 'Bibuuza', produced by Fred Muwanguzi of DMS studios in Masajja, presents a slinkier and smokier backdrop.

Hajjat started off her career with Bebe Cool's Gagamel Crew. She later joined Eddy Kenzo's Big Talent before coming out on her own.
