Hartleyvale

Hartleyvale is a slacker-jazz indie rock group formed in Cape Town in the summer of 2020.

The collaboration of members James Nevin (vocal/guitar) , Keagan Hollywood (drumkit), Ryan Stopforth(keyboards/guitar), and Luke Verrezen (bass) was as natural as could be, with the four meeting in their first year of Jazz Studies in 2017. Countless performances later, the group would combine their influence into what we now know as Hartleyvale.

Notable influences include Beatenberg, Homeshake, Mild High Club, Crumb, and more, to evoke sounds of psychedelic pop, indie-rock, and cool-jazz-fusion. The wide net of sound is propped up by considered songwriting and a keen appreciation for improvisation.
