Hidden Xhosa
Bio
For a solid eighteen (18) years, Hidden Xhosa has been at the center of a number of household names in the music industry in one way or another through composing for other artists, developing artists, road managing and building brands in the music industry such as Berita, Musa, Ami Faku to name a few. In the infancy years of his interest in the music industry, the vision of center stage for Eastern Cape was his drive to create a new wave for the Eastern Cape’s underdeveloped music industry.
Born and raised as Luyolo Sihle Phamandla Beku in the notorious streets of Ngangelizwe and the dusty village of Payne’s Farm in Mthatha,
HiddenXhosa is secretly formed through his childhood love for poetry. The thought of being a singer never crossed his mind, but a full
package of art is what he has always been.
HiddenXhosa now takes center stage with his debut EP titled “Ndim” meaning “This is me” and his latest single titled Xelel'ilizwe featuring Nue Sam. The project defines the thought process of creative writing and inner emotions of HiddenX, as he is fondly known in his circle of creatives. From the intro titled “Idolo” meaning “knee”, you easily relate with your inner spiritual being where you question the whereabouts of the freedom to the trials and tribulations you face.
The sweet love melodies woven around his personal experiences are written from the soft corners of this creative’s heart, as he heavily admits to be a sucker for love, as is evident on the first song he wrote on
the EP titled “Dali”. In this song, the denial of not coming to terms of a loved one not coming back cuts deep and sets you on a trip of chasing waterfalls, but yet you hold on to faith, anticipating their return.
HiddenXhosa here is found in collaboration with two of Eastern Cape’s national music sensations, Zintle Kwaaiman, a young female muso from Mdantsane, on a song titled “Molo” (Hello) in honor of our mothers, both lost and alive and also 2023’s MMA song of the year and multi award winner Betusile Mcinga on a song titled “Ezantsi” (Deep Down) laid on traditional gospel and afropop influences crying out for strength from the giver.
The EP promises a feel good and self-relating experience with also a song of hope titled “Izolo” (Yesterday). “Ndim” is an offering co-produced by HiddenX and Tando Nombila fondly known as Mbilano, as the head producer. Tshegofatso Teffo, otherwise known as Tshego AMG is found in the usual interpretation of soul on his strings as the guitar maestro with Bornwell “Bonibass” Masuku sitting on the low ends of the bassline that easily sits on the tap of your toes.
Recently, Hidden Xhosa has also collaborated with Jaziel Brothers and Musa on a song titled Khuzeka which is set to be released in early 2025. This is another love ballad that is set to speak matters of the heart on a...
