Bio

Khumbulani Muleya is a Cultural and Creative Practitioner known in the media space as a journalist, radio personality and curator of music, poetry and literature activities. Muleya is an arts, entertainment, and community news journalist at Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) writing for the Standard newspaper and the Zimbabwe Independent. He is a National Arts Merit Award (NAMA) winner in the Outstanding Online Media category (2024) and a nominee in the Outstanding Journalist Print category at NAMA (2023). In 2023 he was awarded at the Phoenix Publishing Book Awards in the Outstanding Contribution in the Literary Arts Development category and was the first runner up at the Ignite Youth Awards under the Best Empowerment of Creative Arts category. He is the founder and coordinator at Gourd of Consciousness Poetry (Intanga), a writers' forum that uses digital platforms to constantly jogging the creative writing skills of writers and poets. Since 2017, he has been curating writers' columns in The Standard, Newsday, The Midlands Observer, The Queensdale Report and 3MOB.COM. For eight years he has been a producer/presenter of literature-themed shows at Heart and Soul Broadcasting Services (HStv).
