Kutay
Bio
Sulaiman Turay, known as 'Kutay', is a percussionist who has been a student of African Drumming since the age of five. He is a music director and a costume designer. He was part of The Fritong Players, a professional theatre company in Sierra Leone, that traveled to America to perform at the National Black Arts Festival in 1992. The company's repertoire included acapella singing, acting, dancing and drumming.
Upon realizing the need for continuity, and in response to the demand from African parentage, African Americans, and the entire community, Kutay was inspired to dedicate his life to sharing the skills he acquired with the world at large.
Kutay was the Musical Director of The Fritong Players. Kutay was a pannist with Atlanta's Pan People Steel Band, a percussionist and vocalist with Oosadebe International Nigerian Band, co-founder and lead vocalist for Atlanta's Sierra Soucous Band, and principle performer for the Sierra Leon National Dance Troup.
