Lana Crowster
Bio
Lana Crowster is a singer, songwriter, producer, band leader and music educator based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Lana started singing at the age of two and began her career in performance at the tender age of six. Armed with a Bachelors Degree in Music and a Post Graduate Diploma in Jazz Performance from The University of Cape Town, Lana is one of South Africa’s most sought after performers.
From international performances to providing ethereal vocal landscapes for the award winning feature film documentary “Sidney & Friends”, featuring in the first season of The Voice South Africa as well as winning the top prize of performing at The 2016 Cape Town International Jazz Festival in the ESP Afrika Young Legends Competition, Lana’s versatility as an artist is as consistent as it is enthralling.
With a career already spanning 18 years, and which includes sharing stages with local and international artists like George Benson, Josh Groban, Toya Delazy, Karen Zoid, Arno Carstens, GoodLuck, Zaki Ibrahim, Lisa Kekaula, Laura Burhenn (The Mynabirds), Jackie Queens, Gina Geanz and Dope Saint Jude - this vocal powerhouse has already proven that her creative skills extend far beyond the stage.
She has produced two albums independently, 2013's "Seasons EP" and 2019's "Subconscious". In 2018 Lana founded South Africa’s first professional all women Big Band, The Lady Day Big Band, which was created with the aim of social upliftment through music and normalisation of the woman musician. As an advocate for music education and empowerment of young artists, Lana continues to expand her expertise both on and off stage. 2021 will see her pursue her Masters in Music Business degree at New York University in New York City.
