Lazarus Lalo Zulu
Bio
Lazarus Zulu, a Zambian music director, keyboard player, composer, and arranger, boasts three Zambian Music Awards nominations. As the founder of Special One Entertainment and a key member of The Elect Band (2022 Ngoma Best Band Winners), he has made significant contributions to Zambia's music scene.
Serving as the Music Director for Sampa The Great and more, Lazarus began his musical journey in the late 90s, playing the keyboard at his father's church in Lusaka.
His diverse experiences, from church and community performances to playing in cover bands, have exposed him to various genres and allowed collaborations with top Zambian artists such as Chef187, Racheal Nanyangwe, Ephraim, K’Millian, Izrael, Pompi, Yo Maps, Uncle Rex, James Sakala, BobbyEast, and many others. With over 1 000 recordings, including songs, radio and TV adverts, and film scores, Lazarus is recognised as one of the most experienced keyboard players of his time.
When not touring, Lazarus can work in the studio, collaborate with different artists, or engage in creative projects. His notable achievements include appearances on the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon, directing and performing alongside Sampa The Great at the ARIA Awards, and performances at renowned festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury, Primavera, and North Sea Jazz. Lazarus aspires to become globally recognised, his goals including collaborations with artists like PJ Morton, WizKid, Don Jazzy, Diamond Platinumz, Lira, Kendrick Lamar, and Tye Tribbett.
