Bio
Real name Sharon Laura Ong'ayo Liboi, is a singer and songwriter based in Nairobi, Kenya. Using her creative ability to express the human experience, question humanity and improve the well-being of the deprived in society, Liboi is a strong proponent for social change, culture, and mental awareness. She creates music that blends traditional music with elements of popular African genres.
Her music career kicked off as one of the founding members of an all-girl band, Eidalla (2015-2017). While with the group, Liboi contributed to the release of their single 'Aluoro'. Liboi later left the group to start a solo career.
Her maiden solo project was a single 'Voices in my head' that explored mental wellness while highlighting silence and voice. Being known as a mental wellness and culture advocate, Liboi self-produced her second project 'State of Being', an EP that has 6 tracks. The EP highlights our different states as human beings in our search for paradise and freedom while provoking reflections (2022). Through her music, Liboi has been able to embrace diverse themes from hope, mental health, life, love, patriotism, tribalism, peace, immigration and social ills.
She has performed at many events including Action for Transparency, unplug fest: a wellness and revitalization festival, Usawa Festival, gaining grip experience, and Fete de la musique at Alliance Francaise de Nairobi among others. She has also been in artist residencies like Artist in Residency program by Nafasi Art Space in Tz (2023), Look Me in the I: co-creation, installation and performance show in Nairobi, Kenya and Into the Mirror: co-creation, installation and performance show in Rome, Italy (2022). Liboi has also made music tours in Norway and Spain.
She has also been featured on 'From the Margins', a poetry album by Dorphanage and other conscious spoken word artists as the vocalist. The Album highlights the challenges the marginalized in society go through (2021).
