Mothobisi Moleleki, widely known by his stage name "Maths," is a pioneering figure in the South African hip-hop scene. He embarked on his music journey in 2004 with the release of his breakout hit "Ntja dikepeng" under the independent label Pantsula Records. This project, although leaked and never officially sold, served as a powerful introduction to the South African hip-hop market, gaining traction not only locally but also in neighboring countries such as Lesotho and, Botswana,.

Throughout his career, Maths has collaborated and shared stages with prominent artists including HHP, Tuks, Andrianto, JR, Kwesta, Molemi, Notshi, C-Life, Lemonka, Casper Nyovest, Cash Time Fam, Zola, and others. His collaborations extend to working with renowned producers like Dmonks, Stick, Pro Instro, Blu Print, and Toka, among others. With a fanbase exceeding 25 000 and sales of over 8,000 copies of his project "Dipalo," Maths has established himself as a formidable force in the music industry, achieving independent success through self-funding and an unwavering commitment to his craft.

Maths's lyrical prowess and relatable content resonate with audiences across generations, securing his position as the first Sesotho rapper to achieve significant recognition independently. His career milestones include being introduced to AMS Records by Survival Tektiks Video Company in 2005, where he worked with producers Playground and Kwesta. The same year, he was hailed as the best Sesotho lyricist by HHP at the YBA in Pretoria and earned the title of MC of the Month at YFM.

Despite facing personal setbacks, including a serious accident in 2007, Maths demonstrated resilience and determination. His EP "Hae felle mona" was successfully released and sold 1,000 copies independently. His 2009 mixtape "Daily Bread" received wide airplay on independent radio stations across South Africa and Lesotho, with tracks also being playlisted on Lesedi FM.

Maths's impact extends beyond music; he is a socially conscious role model. Proceeds from his DVD "My Life on Stage" were used to purchase calculators for mathematics students at Lekoa Shandu Secondary School and to provide school shoes for disadvantaged children in his community.
