M'laio
Bio
M'laio is an Afrojazz band from Mozambique.
Members include bandleader Lectícia Deozina on vocals and Leader, Sérgio Banze on guitar, Reagan Pinto on bass, Eleuterio Nhumaio on piano, Teles Khossa on drums, Clarinete: Eufrásio Bape on clarinet, Dionísio Bahule ok percursion.
The band merges African Rhythms such as Marrabenta, Tufo, Mutimba with other styles like Jazz, bossa nova and more, without losing the sense of tradition. We have perfomed with Arnr Jansene jazz trio from Alemanha, with Marcelo Brito com Brasil, Chico Antonio, Antonio Prista from Mozambique, we have a music recorded by TP50 etc.
The definition of our time as anti-tradition, radicalized and assuming unprecedented proportions throughout history, compromises and weakens the existence of a common basis of collective evidence for social interaction. It is looking at this scenario that the band finds its vector to make sense of the music that is wanted by the style - unique and innovative - without losing the sense of tradition and national belonging, making us realize that art is an open space and articulated to other modes of relationship with truth.
