Moseb Band

Moseb Band as a cultural music group is one of the best Ethiopian cultural music band formed in 2012 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by 6 (six) young traditional instrument players mainly Tasew Wendem on Washent (Ethiopian traditional flute), Haddis Alemayehu (HaddinQo) on MasinQo, Dimetros Emawayew on traditional Kirar, Biniam Dagnachew on lid Kirar, Biruk Andersom on Kebero (Ethiopian traditional drum) and Yegerem Gulelat on Bass Kirar. Tasew Wendem is the founder and leader of Moseb Band.
Moseb band is well known with Ethiopian traditional music and Ethio-Jazz genre music with cultural Folk music and dances performing on different national and international stages. Within the past 12 years the band has produced 2 (Two) instrumental albums called “Timona” on 2016 and “Haile Gize” on 2020 and 1 collaboration poetic album called “Ere’ Amsale” with one of the best poetic Ethiopian woman Mele’eti Kiros. And also in October 2024 Moseb Band Make Collaboration album called Ethio Japan folk song exchange project with Japanese folk band Coderani.
Moseb cultural band has performed with many amateur and professional musicians from Ethiopia like Dr, Mulatu Astatke (Known as “The Father of Ethio-Jazz”), Gash Abera Molla, Mohamud Ahimed, the young and renowned Solo artist Dawit Tsige and many international Jazz musicians and Ethiopian cultural ambassadors. Moseb Band also works together with embassies in Addis Ababa, African Union, European Union, UN-ECA (United Nation-Economic Commission for Africa), Gothe German Cultural Institute, British Embassy, Alliance Ethio-Frances and other international and national organizations in creating collaboration and world class experimental jazz music.
The cultural exchange programs with Brazil, Argentina, USA, Spain, France, Denmark, Italy, Kazakhstan, Japan, China, Sudan, Eritrea, Uganda, Kenya are the lists showing Moseb Cultural exchange experience. With this in concept.
Since 2017, Moseb was organizing a big cultural music concert called “Andir” once every month at Ethiopian national theater which was one of the best cultural events happening in the country nowadays and about 750 – 1,500 people were attending per show from all over the country and including tourists. There has been 15 “Andir” shows organized.
The idea of “Andir” concert grows to a weekly TV show called “Andir Tv Show” aired on one of the commercial television stations, “Asham Television”, a local private Television channel, every Sunday. This TV show was on air for two years from 2021 to 2023.
In May 2023 Moseb Band own its event Venue called "Moseb Music Center". In this music center there is teaching, workshop, performance activities are orgnised. Since officially it opens many national and international Amateur and professional musicians, poetries and artists have a woderfull performance.
The Moseb Band supported by some professionals and especially Fikre Alemu on organizing and leading traditional dancer groups from all corners of Ethiopia, invites more vocalist’s, dancers and musicians to join and perform on different local and international stages.
