Mpiwa

Mpiwa is an artist from Zimbabwe.

Mpiwa's musical journey has been a dynamic exploration of sound, starting with the marimba and shakers at 10 years old, mbira at 14, guitar at 17, and djembe at 20, all the while exploring, being enthralled by, and adding to the endless world of Afro-fusion, gospel and world music through her original songs and live performances.

Mpiwa began recording, producing, mixing and distributing her original music in the middle of 2021. Since then, she has released a music video, 6 singles and a 6-track EP titled ‘Daughter’.

As Mpiwa’s performing and recording journey has developed over the last 13 years, her passion for sharing her unique Mbira and Afro-inspired multi-lingual blend grows and emboldens. The reach of Mpiwa’s music is, as she says, “beyond her”. She has witnessed her Art beautifully bridge cultures through her singing in multiple languages (English, French, Shona and a bit of Italian), and her songs’ addictive hooks and choruses. Mpiwa’s music tells of the deep appreciation that she has for the rich tapestry of Africa and the world’s rhythms and melodies.
