Bio
The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the most extensive art museums in the world. It boasts of a collection of nearly 450,000 works of art from ancient Egyptian to contemporary, special exhibitions, and innovative educational programs.
It has the William Morris Hunt Memorial Library, the W. Van Alan Clark Jr, Library at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and nine curatorial department libraries. The combined library houses more than 320,000 items and reflects the strengths of the museum’s collections such as Art of Asia, Oceania, and Africa.
Over 1,100 instruments can be found, including many European and American examples, as well as numerous pieces from Africa. Visitors can view musical instruments ranging from ancient times to the late twentieth century. The museum's instrument collection can be discovered not only through exhibitions, but also by way of talks, live demonstrations, publications, and recorded audio samples.
It is open to members of the public from Monday to Friday at 13h00pm until 17h00pm
