National Museum of Natural History
Bio
The National Museum of Natural History is located in Luanda, Angola. It was established in 1938 as the "Museum of Angola". It initially had sections of Ethnography, History, Zoology, Botany, Geology, Economics and Art. Its exhibits included indigenous music instruments as part of its art and ethnographic sections. Later extensions to the museum meant the creation and attachment of a library and the colonial history archive.
In 1965, the National Museum of Natural History was moved to the present building, which was built from scratch to house the museum.
The National Museum of Natural History in Largo Kinaxixi is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday at 09h00am until 13h00pm and again at 14h30pm until 17h00pm. It is open on Saturday and Sundays at 10h00am until 17h00pm.
