Bio
Zintle Neahtyah Mbuyazwe is a jazz music songwriter, vocalist, and performer from South Africa.
As of 2020, she was studying music at the University of Fort Hare, specialising in Vocal Jazz and Jazz Piano.
Neahtyah’s musical journey began in East London in 2012, where she was inspired by the city’s art scene and creative geniuses. In the early stages of her career, she flourished as a lead vocalist for the famed East London band, Highway to Heaven Alive.
Neahtyah’s career highlights include releasing her EP titled Speak to the Soul in 2014 and opening for renowned afro-soul and SAMA award-winning artist Siphokazi in Queenstown in 2014. She has also shared a stage with musical luminaries like Nkunzemdaka, Thandiswa Mazwai, Qhawekazi Giyose, Madala Kunene, Sibusile Xaba, Mthwakazi, Odwa Nokhwali, Bongeziwe Mabandla, Msaki, and Joel Karabo Elliot.
Neahtyah continued to hone her musical and performance prowess, performing at various festivals, events, and venues including East London Buffalo City Carnival (2013 and 2015), Emthonjeni Arts Centre (2014), Ipeleng Community Centre in Soweto (2015), and The Square Africa Jazz Hour Sessions (2019).
Her unique sound composition comprises content-rich, organic live, Xhosa rhythms, and afro-jazz. It is rooted in what she describes as “Truth”, an element that promotes life and living. Through her music, she intends to spark hope and bring peace of mind to a depressed world.
