Noemie Njangiru

Bio

Noemie Njangiru is the former regional head of the department for culture and development at Goethe-Institut Johannesburg, which is the regional office for sub-Saharan Africa. She is the former board of the Music In Africa Foundation responsible for human resources.
Trained as a cultural anthropologist, Njangiru has lived in various African countries, working on projects related to arts and culture.

From 2009 to 2012, she worked on her dissertation focusing on the transnational networks of contemporary artists in Nairobi, Kenya. Afterwards she worked at Goethe-Institute Nairobi and was involved in several cultural projects, among them the Mwangalio Tofauti II exhibition on contemporary Kenyan photography and the Ten Cities project that investigated and brought together the club cultures of various African and European cities.

From 2013 to 2015, she advised Goethe Institutes worldwide from the organisation’s head office in Munich, Germany.
