Nomvula Munnie
Bio
Nomvula Munnie is an international afrosoul/fusion artist from Durban, South Africa. Born from a Zulu mother and Xhosa father, she has embraced both the cultural diversity of both these tribes into her music, fusing her painful tribal upbringing into her music as a healing and protest at the same time. She has performed in a number of local festivals including the Hazelmere Dam Festival, One Africa, Women Power in Music, International Reggae Day to name the few. The band consists of 4 instrumentalists with 2 backing vocals and their sound takes you through their music journey married with their personal journey and the powerful advocacy for equal rights and the respect of human rights, black, white, queer, etc.
Band members consist of Nhlanhla Zulu - Piano, Sboniso Ncwane- Percussions, Mthobisi Sibisi - Guitar, Sandile Dlamini- Bass, Ayanda Nxumalo - backing vocal, Baetile Sebata- backing Vocalist and Nomvula Maneli - Lead vocalist
She is creative Practitioner who has a passion for cultural exchange programs, she has successfully hosted Africa month Celebrations, Parliament Debates, Solidarity Prayers amongst some of the cultural projects. She is an advocate of a united Africa without borders and no xebophobia. As an International performer, she had worked with Creative of a diverse Creative mixture in Classic Music, hiphop and jazz and always represent her unique, Authenticator African Sound as a story teller. Her musical journey she says is a daily learning experience. She has toured the US,Minneapolis,Minnesota as a soloist and project coordinator for the 2911 International Exchange Music Ensemble.
