Pehecy Sloan
Bio
Musawenkosi Mavuso, popularly known as Pehecy Sloan, was born on December 6, 1998, in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a versatile artist with skills in production, rap, directing, songwriting, beatboxing, and beat-making.
Pehecy Sloan's journey in the music industry began in 2007 when he joined his brother ISH to form the group Jangalala Boys. Although they didn't record any music as Jangalala Boys, in 2009, Pehecy Sloan had an opportunity to perform in a street show but was interrupted by the appearance of his stepmother before he could showcase his talent.
In 2010, he moved to Maputo, Mozambique, to pursue his studies. It was there that he met his cousin Lastizzy, and in 2011, they formed a group called Furious Click and Blood Records. However, as a member of the group, they didn't release any music. In 2012, Lastizzy decided to stop rapping, but Pehecy Sloan, also known as Gangster Dogg at the time, continued with The Blood Records. He recorded his first album titled 16 TO THE STREETS at a recording studio affiliated with the record label. The initial plan was to release the album in 2015, but due to a lack of marketing strategy, it was never published. Instead, in 2016, Pehecy Sloan recorded 1998, a 15-track album that he was confident would be his debut release. However, tragedy struck when his computer's hardware disk blew up, resulting in the loss of all his work. This heartbreaking experience led him to take a break from music and focus on other aspects of his life.
In 2018, Pehecy Sloan reemerged as Pehecy Slow with two mixtapes, FREESTYLING and FREESTYLING II, each featuring 12 tracks, including some original compositions. He produced and directed these projects himself, showcasing his creative talent.
By 2019, Pehecy Slow had plans to establish his record label, WOT RECORDS, with himself as the only signed artist. He collaborated with his younger brother, IM PASTOR, who became the co-producer of the label.
In 2020, Pehecy Slow began working on his EP titled ME N ME and Me Trying To Be ME. The following year, in 2021, he released these EPs on SoundCloud, although they didn't achieve significant impact. Despite the challenges, Pehecy Slow remains determined to continue his musical journey, expressing his unwavering dedication to his craft.
